So, you’ve seen it and probably LOVED it, but thought, My, that’s too hard!  Well, it’s NOT. The September stitch is a happy surprise, but a little preparation ahead of time is needed if you want to participate. We’re not telling you what the stitch is, but trust us, you’ll find it more complicated looking than it is AND very impressive looking. Dazzle anyone who doesn’t attend the meeting with your dreamy new stitch creation.  Your homework has been simplified and will not require much of your time.

When choosing a yarn weight, please remember the heavier the yarn weight, the fewer number of stitches will be needed. This pattern requires a set-up row and two rows for the pattern which will be done during the program. With fewer stitches the pattern will be completed more quickly.

What you will need:
•l worsted, ARAN, BULKY or SUPER BULKY weight yarn (or a combination of yarns held together to make that weight) in TWO CONTRAST COLORS, a main color (MC) and a contrast color (CC)
•l Needles for knitting in the round that correlate to your weight of yarn

Set-up:
•Cast on enough stitches in your main color (MC) so that you can join in the round. Use whatever cast on you prefer and an even number of stitches. If you feel ambitious, work 2 or 3 more rows of knit or garter stitch. A small supply of bulky/super bulky yarn will be available along with needles. The supply is limited so please bring your own yarn and needles if possible.
A presentation of ways to use this very adaptive stitch will be included as well as a free pattern.

OCTOBER
October will be a fiber program headed by Guild member, Diana Galvin. Diana will talk about different breeds of sheep, what their wool was bred for, and the appearance of the wool, whether long or downy. Diana has photos and wool samples that she will display.

NOVEMBER
Another Carson Demers video visit is in the offing. He will educate us on Contact Stress, Forceful Exertion, and Repetition. Not as exhausting as it sounds. Carson will be doing all the work. Improving how we feel when we knit and afterwards is Carson’s goal. Let’s make it ours too.

DECEMBER
Holiday Christmas Party and Potluck
Tuesday, December 12th at 6:30pm
St Stephens Lutheran Church Fireside Room

In keeping with the Christmas spirit of giving, the program committee is asking that you make a gift to donate to one of our Guild charities. This will be in lieu of the gift exchange this year. The gift donation will be anonymous and presented in a way that encourages joy and fun. You don’t need to designate a specific charity, but if you wish to direct your donation to a specific one, you are encouraged to do so. Please do not wrap your gifts. A collection box will be placed in the entrance hall.
