The Knitting Guild members support many people with gifts of yarn, time and knitted items. Some, but not all are listed below:

Santa Cruz County Blaine Street Women’s Jail – we have provided yarn and knitting & crochet instruction for over 20 years

Chemo Caps – donation of hats to local cancer treatment facilities and physicians for use by people experiencing hair loss from cancer treatment

Hats for Sailors – hand-knitted and crocheted wool hats for sailors in the US Navy and occasionally the Coast Guard.

Homeless Garden Project Holiday Store (donations of knitted items for sale). The Homeless Garden Project Store in downtown Santa Cruz and in Capitola benefits the Santa Cruz Homeless Garden Project.

Knitted Knockers – soft, comfortable, knit prosthetics for breast cancer survivors distributed through local oncologists

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) (knitted hats for holiday time)

We are open to adding new charity programs as time and fingers allow.
