Dressing Stuffies: Ann Marie and Gwen
Magic knot: Kris Nardello
This is a strong way of joining two pieces of yarn together anywhere in your project. It would be helpful if folks had their own scissors and a pen/pencil.
Sequence Knitting–Serra Hats 1-6: Joanne Yablonsky
These hats were designed to show how easy it is to create a wide variety of designs using just 1 sequence with Cecelia Campochiaro’s spiral method. Adding one stitch changes the fabric completely. The hats are a quick and easy knit for a last-minute gift or charity project. There are no supplies required.
A Shetland Method for Selecting Color for Multi-Colored Projects: Carin Chapin
Gwen and I went to Shetland Wool Week last September. One all-day class was given by designer, dyer and former patron, Donna Smith on her croft (sheep farm). I will share her approach to choosing colors for color work. I still find myself seeing colors this way now!
Inspiration is the key. Nature photos provide inspiration. Bring your favorite sea, forest, desert or mountain photos. I’ll have some books to help you as well. This is an interactive exercise that will be accompanied by photos taken at Donna Smith’s croft. If you have a project to bring to try this technique, please do. If you have lots of small scraps of yarn (really small amounts are fine) that you can donate, the more colors we have, the better. No needles are required. I will provide the other materials. I plan to come to the Tuesday night meeting.
I CORD: Sarah Lindsey
I will show how to do two and three stitch i-cord and I can show how to do an i-cord bind off. I also have a new little hand tool that makes i-cord that I will bring. If folks want to participate, they should bring some yarn and two double pointed needles of a suitable size for the yarn.
TUNISIAN CROCHET: Annie Maciel
A quick beginning for Tunisian crochet techniques. Yarn will be provided and some hooks, but if you have a Tunisian hook please bring it.
DRESSING STUFFED ANIMALS: Ann Marie Molyneux & Gwen Clark
Patterns and yarn are offered for knitting cute little accessories for the stuffed animals donated by Ann Marie. They will be distributed to children during interviews with Kelli Freitas, a Forensic Interviewer with the County of Santa Cruz District Attorney’s Office.
