September is Book Month for the Knitting Guild. I am extremely pleased to report that Laurie R. King will be the speaker for the September day meeting of the guild, Thursday, September 16 at 10AM.

Laurie R. King is the New York Times bestselling author of 30 novels and other works, including the Mary Russell-Sherlock Holmes stories, beginning with The Beekeeper’s Apprentice (named “One of the 20th Century’s Best Crime Novels” by the IMBA.)  She has won the Agatha, Anthony, Edgar, Lambda, Wolfe, Macavity, Creasey dagger, and Romantic Times Career Achievement awards, has an honorary doctorate in theology, and has been guest of honor at several mystery conventions.  And yes, she is a Baker Street Irregular.

Although Laurie is known internationally, and her works have been translated into many languages, we are proud to claim Laurie as a resident of Santa Cruz County. She has been honored with several local awards in addition to her many, many national and international ones.

I encourage you to read or listen to at least one of her books before the meeting and have questions at the ready.
